But Bialik updated her fans via Twitter last night, assuring everyone that the thumb is intact, and will remain so.
"(husband typing) In pain but will keep all my fingers. If u wanna See pre accident me watch The Soup tonight lol #joelmchale @thesoup," Bialik tweeted.
TMZ reports Bialik was driving by herself in a white Volvo in L.A. yesterday, when a van full of Chilean tourists crashed into her.

The story also reported some gruesome details: that there was "tons and tons of blood everywhere," and that Bialik's finger "was almost completely severed … it was just hanging there."
Bialik, the former kid star who earned a Ph.D during a timeout from acting, was recently nominated for an Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Emmy for her role as neuroscientist Amy Farrah Fowler on The Big Bang Theory.
And, of course, she'll always be sassy TV teen Blossom to us.
Long live Blossom (and her fingers!).
