Drew Barrymore: Hollywood, Family Pressures Too Much
Is Drew Barrymore toying with the idea of leaving it all behind?
With her perpetual bright smile and upbeat pace, it's easy to forget that Drew Barrymore comes from a marred past. But she's revealing background about her family and career that may indicate she's heading somewhere unexpected next.
Drew Barrymore's family has been a sore spot since her childhood. She comes from a long line of Hollywood elite, but the spotlight and expectations that came with the fame were so intense that she took up drugs as a kid.
More recently Drew's clean as a whistle. Her charisma and talent have taken center stage in films like Grey Gardens and 50 First Dates, but behind closed doors, she's still combatting the scars of her past. As the cover girl of InStyle's latest issue, she's quoted saying, "I don't talk about [my family] because … how do you talk about something you're confused about?"
So she stays positive. She's indicated that an upcoming project will have a happily family-oriented theme, and depending on how that works out, she's not married to Hollywood. "Maybe I'll just travel as a tourist and leave this whole business behind to wander," she says. We doubt it, but if she does, we'll always take her back.
