Drew Carey's drastic weight loss is shocking...but good?

Monday saw the premiere for the 39th season of "The Price Is Right." Just as former host Bob Barker was hospitalized after passing out at a shooting range last week, Drew Carey took the stage looking healthier than ever. What's behind Drew Carey's weight loss? He's staying quiet, but we've learned the scoop.

Drew Carey took the stage on today's season opener of "The Price Is Right" looking very different from the way we saw him last season. Web chatters want to know why Drew Carey didn't say anything about his weight loss on the air, but some critics are suggesting Carey didn't want to take away from the content of the show (the prizes are said to be worth more than ever, and the models -- finally! -- have microphones so we can actually hear them speak).

Was it in fact intentional for Drew Carey not to mention what's being referred to as his "excessive" weight loss? "The Price Is Right" executive producer Mike Richards reveals in this promo video:

"Drew Carey! I'm sure you've seen it in the news, the guy's been working out like a mad man. He's eating well, he's working out, he's making all of us feel bad because we're not running around and working out like him. He looks great, he has amazing energy again this season."

What else is happening onscreen? Find out!

Clearly the crew's acknowledging Carey's weight loss so that the audience won't jump to the conclusion that Carey's weight loss is thanks to an illness or, you know, drugs. (It is Hollywood, after all.)
