We saved the best part of this interview series for last. Study up!
Patti's new book Become Your Own Matchmaker lists -- get ready -- 28 amazing ways to meet single men right now (and she busts the myth that the gym's one of them). Patti Stanger has shared her top spots to meet single guys with LimeLife...here you go!
LimeLife: Patti, on your recent Oprah appearance, you mentioned that a good place for women to meet men is skiing. Why is that?
Patti Stanger: Skiing is the most expensive sport there is. It's eleven to one [male to female ratio] in Breckenridge. Most ski towns are four to one. Most millionaires are in Breckenridge, just FYI. The metrosexuals are in Aspen, but the real men are in Breckenridge. And you don't have to ski to [go there]. You can drink a hot totty at the bar.
LimeLife: Where else are good spots to meet guys?
Patti Stanger: You have to find your hobbies. Some women say to me, "I have feminine interests. I cook." I say, "Great. Cooking goes with wine." Men love wine. The richer they get, the more they want to have a wine cellar. It's the number-one feature in homes today that men and couples are getting right now. It used to be the home theater, it used to be the big jacuzzi, but now they're downsizing to get the wine cellar. In order to do wine, you gotta know about wine. You gotta collect it. You gotta go to food and wine festivals like the one in Aspen in June, or the South Beach one. Rich men go there.
If you're athletic, you are the girl that most guys want. They want to be able to talk sports and do sports. So if you play golf, if you play tennis, [you're what they want]. My sister joined a running club years ago, even though she was married, because she ran the New York City marathon and she had to train for it. There were 50 guys to four girls. I go, "Are any of them single?" She goes, "At least 35 of them." I said, "Are any cute?" She said, "At least 10." I'm like, "Well are you fixing your friends up?" She goes, "Should I do that?" I'm like, "YES!" I live on Marina del Rey on the ocean and every morning if you get up at seven o'clock in the morning to see the sun rise, you see the running clubs coming -- and they're all men.
[Guys also] go to trade shows for cars and books. They go for sports cards, like football and baseball, and they bring their kids along. The best spots for divorced fathers is those trade shows. [On Oprah, Patti said that divorced men are great romantic prospects because you have a hint that they're not commitment-phobes.]
Go to the electronics show in Vegas. It's the number-one trade show in the country to meet a man.
LimeLife: When we finally locate men in their masses, what should we look for?
Patti Stanger: So if you're out at Best Buy, and you notice a nice guy who's got a nice watch on, he's got a good leather jacket on, he's got a good pair of shoes - always check the shoes. Now, he's got no ring on, he's a five-second flirt.
Whole Foods, five o'clock, prime time in any city, is gonna get men who are into fitness and nutrition getting their little meals for the night. You think you've gotta dress in the cocktail dress, go to the club? That is an urban myth.
LimeLife: Go back to the shoes, Patti. What are we looking for?
Patti Stanger: My mom always said that shoes make the man. Shoes don't have to be Gucci, Fendi, Prada. Shoes can be Converse, or good sexy biker boots, but he knows how to put an outfit together with the shoes. Nine times out of ten, single guys want to look good to get single, hot chicks. So if you look at the way he puts himself together. Look for men who are put together with no rings on, and you signal him with the five-second flirt, eight out of ten times he's single. Because men who are married [tend to] get sloppy. Single guys keep up because they've gotta get that hot girl.
And by "that hot girl," we mean YOU! Patti Stanger asked us to remind LimeLife readers that it is free to join MillionairesClub123.com. They're looking for women all over the country to join. Her other dating site is called www.psxoxo.com, where, as Patti describes, is "for the average Joe and Jane, where you can do the shopping."
