Easy Dip to Make You Swoon
Healthy Dip That Tastes Divine
Tasty dips stuffed with sour cream and mayo might be your preferred choice, but if you are health-conscious and need more fiber or need to decrease your fat intake, you might want to look towards something a little more beneficial for your overall diet. Super-creamy bean dip, here we come!
Herbed White Bean Dip
1 can cannellini beans, rinsed, drained
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
cayenne pepper
To make your dip, put everything except the cayenne pepper in a food processer and blend until smooth, afterwards adding salt and pepper to taste. Put your dip in a decorative bowl and sprinkle with cayenne pepper. Now break out those organic tortilla chips or veggie sticks, because you are all done! If you want to make this one day in advance, just hold off on the cayenne until the dip reaches room temperature again.
Why is this dip an amazing choice? Cannellini beans boast 15.3 grams of protein per boiled cup and 11.3 grams of fiber, and they also happen to be good sources of iron, folate, and magnesium. In fact, you might find yourself liking cannellini beans so much that you want to use them in other recipes, and you can: recent studied show that blended cannellini beans can replace up to 50% of traditional fats in baked goods such as brownies.
Then again, that's another recipe altogether--stay tuned for your bean brownie recipe tips tomorrow!
