Eminem is Back With a Relapse
But is he better than ever?
It's been 5 years since Eminem's last album and to tell the truth, we kind of forgot he was gone. But when we heard he was coming back, we got kind of excited to see what craziness he would come up with with Relapse. But did he deliver?
Unfortunately, we're feeling pretty "meh" about Eminem's new album, Relapse. We're happy he stopped doing drugs and made it through rehab, but his material is kind of weak this time around.
The video for the first single, "We Made You," is pretty clever as we expect Eminem videos to be, but does he need to stop picking on other celebrities and get more creative? We kind of think so. He confuses everyone with his "Jessica Simpson sings the chorus," when it's clearly not her. Is it even cool to make fun of Jessica Simpson anymore? It's almost like he's just throwing celebrities' names in his song to sound "cool," but unfortunately, it does the opposite.
Much of the material on the album is grotesque and basically offensive. As we come to expect from Eminem, there's tons of violence toward women, drugs, and homophobia. It's almost laughable when he says, "Sorry Portia, but what does Ellen DeGeneres have that I don't? Umm, where do we start? But clearly, that's Eminem's goal and he even says, "I guess it’s time for you to hate me again.” Because, I'm sure to him, hating him is way better than forgetting him.
He's just not funny anymore and it's almost as if he's taken his act one step too far. Sure, we can take a job, but can everybody else? Sadly, Eminem says these are the best of the over 100 songs he recorded for the album and that he'll likely be coming out with a Relapse Pt. 2. Please, please don't.
