Emma Stone Bares All in Bikini, Talks Vices in 'Vanity Fair'
Now on Top, Stone Confesses "Rock Bottom"
To know Emma Stone is to love her; so to know her better is to...love her more? Based on her new interview, definitely. Prepping for a serious summer with three feature flicks, the 22-year-old actress is baring much as she covers the August issue of Vanity Fair (on stands Friday). Here Stone opens up on high school (she dropped out), Hayden and -- huh? -- "heroin." Here's a sneak peek.
Emma Stone may be working alongside her rumored new boyfriend Andrew Garfield in the latest Spider-Man reboot; and she may be starring in The Help, Friends with Benefits and Crazy, Stupid, Love this summer ... but before she reached her reign in Hollywood, Stone reveals she wasn't so successful in many areas.
Stone's first big chance came along when she was invited to audition for the TV series Heroes, but despite her high hopes, she faced some major competition. "I could hear that, in the other room, a girl had just gone in and they were saying, 'You are our pick ... On a scale of 1 to 10 you're an 11,'" Stone said. Who came sauntering out of the room? Hayden Panettiere. "I went home and just had this meltdown," Stone confesses.
But now the raspy-voiced starlet says that the role she scored in 2007's Superbad was meant to be, even if it meant she had to sacrifice her education to put her all into her acting. "I was playing a senior, and had I graduated I would've missed that opportunity, and had I missed that opportunity I wouldn't be here right now," Stone says.

The young Stone's fatalism may come in part from the breast cancer her mother beat a few years back (in celebration of her mom's cancer victory, the two women got bird-feet tattoos that Paul McCartney designed for them), but there are definitely some areas of her life where she proceeds with caution. Stone says she's trying to get used to Hollywood's strict body image standards, joking she abides by a diet of "heroin, the sugar and the wine -- nothing too crazy." Plus, how true is it that she's dating her Spider-Man co-star Andrew Garfield? Stone refuses to kiss and tell. "Talking about this stuff is pretty new," the actress told Vanity Fair. "The only solution I've come to when it comes to things like that -- the health of my family or dating, really personal things -- is not to talk about it."
