Get Ready for the South American Tapir
I've just discovered a new blog in addition to my usual Cute Overload browsing: ZooBorns. It's the perfect palette cleanser and chock-full of exotic baby creatures, which is probably a good way to encourage yourself to toss a few dollars towards an animal rescue organization of your choice. . . especially after what happened to the giant pandas' habitat.
Back to the certain cute animal in question. The tapir, a delightful snub-nosed creature also known as the Brazilian Tapir, is born with a delicate speckling pattern to provide much needed camouflage in the forest. Not only are the stripes and spots totally cute and cool, but the baby tapir of note, born recently at the UK's Marwell Zoo, is kind of shaped like a fur-covered jellybean.
Did you know ALF was a tapir? News to me, but another reason to love these guys.
