First 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' Trailer Debuts
James Franco has a chimp on his shoulder.
Those damn dirty apes are back, and this time they've brought James Franco. The first trailer for the upcoming 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' has debuted online, giving the world its first peek at how these hairy apes took over the world.

Charleton Heston not included, the latest Apes film looks to be an origin story of how this whole gorilla domination got started. It is actually the seventh film in the franchise.
Set in modern day San Francisco, the movie follows a young scientist (Franco) who works in a lab that tests apes for a cure to Alzheimer's. But when one subject begins to show amazing development, the young scientist has to take it home in order to save it from the needles and scalpels of lab doctors.

Frieda Pinto plays Caroline, a primatologist caught up in the terrifying results of a genetic modification experiment.
The apes for the film were created using CGI technology by Weta Digital, the minds behind some of the most fantastic special effects in recent years, including the 'Lord of the Rings' movies and James Cameron's 'Avatar.'
That means no underpaid extras running around in thrift-store gorilla suits. Hopefully.
