'Friday Night Lights' Movie Script Almost Finished
Series Producer Peter Berg Says Making the Movie Is Just a Matter of Getting the Busy Cast Back Together
Friday Night Lights fans have been waiting on a movie sequel to the show since it left the airwaves last year, and show producer Peter Berg says the movie just might be close to happening.

"Jason Katims, who was our super talented show-runner, is about done with the script," Berg tells MTV News. "You never know. So much of these things become scheduling. Kyle (Chandler) is busy, Adrianne (Palicki) is busy, Taylor (Kitsch) is busy, Connie Britton is busy, but if we can get everyone in the same room at the same time, we all want to do it. We're not done with Friday Night Lights."
As for potential storylines, the movie would, of course, revisit all the FNL characters fans know and love, but Berg says the flick will also have a "ripped from today's headlines" aspect to it.
"(Katims) has come up with a really great storyline that parallels what happened to Mike Leach, one of my heroes, a coach at Texas Tech who was unjustly fired and unjustly accused of mistreating a player with a concussion, which was proven to not have been the case," Berg says. "He's now at Washington State getting ready for what I think will be a great redemption story.

"It would be critical that we get Kyle and Connie (for the movie) -- we anchored the show around them -- and then bring in Riggins, Tyra, Lyla and all other characters as we could get them. But the idea is to really revolve it around the coach."
Meanwhile, star Taylor Kitsch added that he's happy with how he left his Tim Riggins character, but is open to popping up in the movie.
"I loved the way I left Riggs," Kitsch said. "You never know (about a movie). Maybe a little cameo or something. We'll see if he even wants me in it."
