Gabby Douglas' Mom Addresses Hair Haters
Olympic Winner Gabby Douglas' Hair Subject of Criticism
Gabby Douglas won gold at the Olympics, won the hearts of millions of fans the world over and is poised for a big endorsement payday, but haters are still gonna hate.
Most notably, Douglas has been on the receiving end of hair haters, who for whatever reason, have found something wrong with the gold medalist's hair.
Douglas addressed the haters in an interview, saying, "I just made history and people are focused on my hair? It can be bald or short; it doesn't matter about hair."

She also wrote this recently on her Facebook page: "Whew I finally got some good rest after having to deal with some of this negativity. First my hair -- then my mom. I guess no one could wait till we finished competing so that we could keep our concentration and focus."
Douglas' mom has come under attack because she filed for bankruptcy -- but listen, training an Olympiad isn't cheap, so lay off.
Douglas' mom, Natalie Hawkins, is clearly in her corner, supporting her daughter in the face of criticisms that she unfortunately shouldn't have to deal with.
Hawkins admitted to Fashionista.com that she had once tried to make her daughter's hair a priority, explaining that a coach told her not to worry about that stuff.
Hawkins notes that "hair is secondary," explaining, "I was trying to get her into a hair appointment and I wanted to move her training schedule around and he [the coach] said to me, ‘She's beautiful. You don't need to change her hair. We need to focus on training.'"
