German Farmer Accidentally Grows Massive Pot Farm
"He Only Wanted A Few Nice Sunflowers"
Weeds: They're every gardener's biggest nuisance. Left unchecked, they can take over your entire yard before you know it. But for one farmer in Germany, the weeds were of a much more, um, potent variety.

An elderly farmer in the Bavaria region of Germany was shocked to discover that the unidentified plants he had been growing on his farm were actually giant stalks of cannabis.
German authorities were alerted to the property by neighbors who said the 74-year-old man had a cornfield of 1,000 10-foot high marijuana plants growing on his farm. But when police showed up, the farmer had genuinely no idea what they were.
The man said he was trying to plant sunflowers, but since he didn't have seeds he used birdfeed instead. The feed turned out to be a mix of sunflower and, you guessed it, hemp seeds.

Stunned at the revelation, the farmer then proceeded to hop on his tractor and mow the entire crop down under the watchful eye of German police.
"This kind of thing has never happened in the area before," a police spokesman told the local news. "He only wanted a few nice sunflowers."
The spokesman also added that the plants weren't even strong enough to be used for drugs. Just enough to almost give the poor farmer a heart attack.
