'Golden Girl' Rue McClanahan's Belongings To Be Auctioned [VIDEO]
Fellow Golden Girl Betty White On Hand To Help
The Elizabeth Taylor auction was très très fabulous this week, but the upcoming action of Rue McClanahan's personal items has got us smashing our piggy banks.
McClanahan, aka the Emmy Award winning Blanche Devereaux of former Golden Girls fame, passed away in June last year, after suffering a brain hemorrhage. But she'd made it clear she wanted her fans to have access to her personal property after she was gone. (She was also a devoted animal rights supporter and left a considerable amount of her estate to charitable causes.)

Carrying out his mother's wishers, McClanahan's only son, Mark Bish, is now launching a series of auctions across the United States, beginning December 17.
The first auction will be the entire living room contents of McClanahan's NYC apartment, including furniture, artwork, show biz memorabilia, Golden Girls outfits, costume jewelry, personal letters, a purse she carried to the 1986 Emmys, a few Golden Girls scripts -- one signed by the other stars of the show and another with her personal notes -- and “doodles" by her and, of all people, George Clooney.
“She was so artistic. She would doodle, and I mean really artistic work. . . and detailed. And I kept telling her: you’ve got to do something with those. That is more than doodling, that is artwork,” Golden Girls co-star Betty White told sales organizer Michael J La Rue in a video.

To help promote the sale, La Rue has released a clip of national treasure Betty White, sharing details about her dear friend. You can check out the video below, and if you're still looking for a Xmas gift for that special someone, you know what to do on December 17. Auction bidding can be done at Hutter Auction Galleries in person, on the phone, or at www.liveauctioneers.com.
