Golden Globe Winners: Avatar, The Hangover, Mad Men
And the Golden Globe went to...
Last night's Golden Globe ceremony went off with nary a hitch, with many of the favorites (and a few underdogs) walking out with one of Hollywood's top honors. Here's a quick list of all the winners in the major categories.
On the film side of things, two of the top awards were given to Avatar. The film was named best picture in the drama category, and James Cameron won the award for best director.
Jeff Bridges won the best actor award in a drama for his highly-acclaimed performance in Crazy Heart, about a drifting ex-country music star, and Sandra Bullock was named best actress in a drama for her role in The Blind Side.
In the comedy and musical categories, Robert Downey Jr. won for his performance in Sherlock Holmes, while Meryl Streep was honored (did you really think anyone else would win?) for her turn as Julia Child in Julie and Julia.
.
The award for best supporting actor went to Christoph Waltz (a personal fave) for his role as an evil nazi in Inglourious Basterds. Best supporting actress was Mo'Nique, who won for her scary performance in Precious.
In the portion of the ceremony directed at television, the big awards went to Mad Men (best drama), Glee (musical or comedy series), and Grey Gardens (movie or miniseries). Michael C. Hall, who just announced he is battling cancer, won the award for best actor in a drama for his killer role in Dexter, and former ER doc Julianna Margulies won the best actress category for her role in The Good Wife.
