"Golden Voice" Ted Williams Reunited with Mother (VIDEO)
Homeless man-turned-announcer's wish is granted.
This week Ted Williams, the "homeless man with the golden voice," didn't just go viral: he went televisual. Yep, Ted Williams is ruling the airwaves in voiceovers for Kraft and sports broadcasts, but our favorite update on the 53-year-old inspiration this week was his tearful meeting with his elderly mother. Williams wound up scoring a contract with Kraft, a job for the Cleveland Cavaliers, a home and even a cell phone. But the moment that made Ted Williams the most emotional this week was during his tear-filled reunion with his mother -- "Mommy," he called her -- as the two hadn't seen each other for 10 years.
Ted Williams says that as he was suffering addiction and living homeless for the past few years, his one prayer was that his 92-year-old mother to see him make something of himself. But Williams said he felt he'd "brought so much disgrace" to his family and that he didn't believe there was anything to say to ever make them proud again.
But when Ted and his mom met this week, he says, "I was just gone ... We didn't even say anything. Man, it was like a dream finally came true."
