Gucci Targets Kids with iPad App and Children's Party
Starting them young
If I were a parent, I'd likely want to keep my kids far far from any interest in Gucci until they were much older. But Gucci is quite determined to reel in the kiddie crowd. First they launched the Gucci iPad app. And then they threw a Gucci party at a daycare. Calling Suri Cruise?
Of course, all kids would look adorable in Gucci. But do you really want to encourage your little ones to be begging for Gucci duds before they even hit their teens? I suppose if you have the dough, you might want to. The Gucci iPad app will keep the young fashionistas happy and busy as they color the Gucci paper dolls and view the new clothing line. Can your baby say, "Me want Gucci shirt?"
And after school last Friday, a party was thrown in Gucci's Fifth Avenue store for tots and their moms. Gucci made sure to keep all the young guests entertained with face painting and letting them color on custom Gucci coloring sheets, and play with the new Gucci iPad apps. Parents probably milled around and talked about whose toddler looks cuter in Gucci.
But then when you see Jennifer Lopez and her adorable twins in the Gucci Kids ads, you'll seriously be lusting over it, too. Gucci is marketing their kids' line in all the right ways and I have a feeling it's going to do very, very well. Even if it feels so wrong.
Just what we need: Kids throwing fits because their parents can't afford a new Gucci leather jacket for them. Sigh.
