Who could've guessed the guy with a bleached goatee and flames on his shirt would be an idiot?

Fieri Denies Accusations, Calls Himself A "Standup Guy"

Diners, Drive-ins, Dives ... and dirtbags. A former producer has accused Guy Fieri, the blonde-haired host and champion eater at the Food Network, of being a sexist and homophobic bigot who refuses to "talk to gay people without warning" and has his eyes "always on breasts."

David Page, a former producer on Fieri's show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, reveals that the 43 year-old host routinely made inappropriate jokes while on set.

"You have to protect Guy from all of his poop jokes," Page told Minneapolis's City Pages last week. "Anytime any woman mentioned 'cream,' Guy went into a sexual riff. When cutting the show, you had to tell the editors to watch Guy's eye line, because it's always on breasts."

Fieri also had a problem with gay people. In one instance the host stormed out of a restaurant because he wasn't offered advance notice that it was owned by two gay men.

"Guy had decided that the two men running the restaurant were life partners," Page says. "He said, 'You can't send me to talk to gay people without warning! Those people weird me out!'"

And here's another gem: "[Fieri's team] were demanding tremendous research from my people, and pictures, but they didn't want to pay for them," Page says. "Guy said to me: 'You know, it's true: Jews are cheap.'"

Fieri's camp has now released a statement refuting Page's comments.

"Guy's reputation speaks for itself," the statement reads. "He's a standup guy who does right by people. He would never make the kind of comments attributed to him in this story, and anyone who knows or has even met him knows that. That Mr. Page made these sadly desperate statements says more about him than it does about Guy or anyone on the Food Network team."

Why does the fact that Guy Fieri is a homophobic jerk NOT come as a surprise to me? I've always had the impression that he is far more obsessed with cultivating his ever-so-HIP image than anything else. Note the spiky peroxide "do," the sunglasses perched on the BACK of his head, the seemingly purposeless armband. Note the trendy "man cave" in which he used to do his show, tricked out with a drum kit, a pool table, hubcaps on the wall, etc. Obviously Mr. Fieri has considerable talent as both a cook and a showman, otherwise he wouldn't have become a Food Network Star. Obviously he has his fans. But I'm not one of them. And learning about how he has such disdain for Gay people just reinforces that.

I can see why a fat "straight" man with garish clothes, earrings, bleached hair, bracelets, man boobs and pinky rings would be uncomfortable around gay men. Could it be that most gay men are more masculine?
