H&M Presents A Flamboyant (and Affordable) 'Versace' Collection [SLIDESHOW]
Donatella Versace Teams Up With The Swedes
The stuff may look a little wild for your average trip to the grocery store, but dressing to excess is what Versace is all about -- and now, thanks to her new collection at H&M, being wacky and Versace is AFFORDABLE! (Well, when compared with typical designer price tags anyway.)
As the latest in a string of high-street/designer collaborations, Donatella Versace launched her vibrant collection for H&M in a fashion show, held at the historic Pier 57. H&M have partnered with plenty designer in the past, including Stella McCartney, Victor & Rolf, and Karl Lagerfeld, but the Versace collaberation is causing some hysteria.

The line is giving customers what they truly want -- the chance to dress like a celebrity. In the collection, Versace has released some famous classics, which include a version of the palm print dress J-Lo wore to the Grammys in 2000, and the leopard print ensemble Linda Evangelista wore in the supermodel-heavy ads of the 1990s. Unfortunately, there's no Liz Hurley safety-pin dress.

Littered with lace, studs, leather and fringing, this is not a collection for the faint-hearted wallflower. As Donatella explains to Associated Press, "Everyone said, 'Let's do safe clothes of a good quality that people will invest in and wear year after year.' That couldn't be more wrong. The companies that survived the most were the ones that were recognizable, that stuck to their DNA, and our DNA is glamour."
The clothes will be on sale from November 19, but just because they're being housed at the budget-conscious H&M, doesn't mean they are particularly cheap. A few of the skirts cost in excess of $100, most of the dresses hit the $200 mark, and there's a coat priced at $399.
