James MacArthur, the actor who played "Danno" on the original "Hawaii 5-0," has died. MacArthur was 72 when he passed away Thursday -- here we look back on his life and career.
James MacArthur was a stage and screen actor who played "Daniel 'Danno' Williams" on "Hawaii 5-0" from 1968 to 1980. WESH.com recalls: "Episodes often ended with detective Steve McGarrett, the lead character, uttering what became a pop culture catch phrase: 'Book 'em, Danno.' " McGarrett passed away in 1998.

MacArthur quit the show before its final season, later admitting on his website that he'd grown "bored. The stories became more bland and predictable and presented less and less challenge to me as an actor."

James MacArthur's agent, Richard Lewis, revealed that MacArthur died Thursday, Oct. 28 of undisclosed "natural causes" at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. MacArthur was reportedly survived by his third wife, H. B. Duntz, four children and six grandchildren.
