Hilarious Twitter Feed Set to Become TV Show
What does Pops have to say about all of this?
Who would've thought that all your dad's classic sayings could actually make you famous one day? Justin Halpern, who runs a comedy Twitter feed that chronicles his father's profane words of wisdom, has just signed a television deal with CBS.
Halpern, 29, runs a Twitter account called shitmydadsays, a comedy feed that pulls from random sayings by his 79 year-old dad. It already has 750,000 followers and has turned Halpern into an internet star.
Now, according to the Hollywood Reporter, Haplern has signed a deal with CBS to turn the feed into a pilot for television. Halpern himself will serve as a writer and producer, and if execs like what they see the show will be turned into a bonafide series.
It all started in August when Halpern moved back in with his surly father in San Diego. Since then he has shared their hilarious conversations with the world. Here are some of the man's best bits of advice.
"You look just like Stephen Hawking… Relax, I meant like a non-paralyzed version of him. Feel better?… Fine. Forget I said it."
"Son, no one gives a sh*t about all the things your cell phone does. You didn't invent it, you just bought it. Anybody can do that."
"You worry too much. Eat some bacon... What? No, I got no idea if it'll make you feel better, I just made too much bacon."
"The baby will talk when he talks, relax. It ain't like he knows the cure for cancer and he just ain't spitting it out."
