HollyNotes: The Emmys, Babies Galore, and Khloe's Getting Married

Let's begin with the Emmys. Pretty good, right? Neil Patrick Harris was spectacular. Sharp, well-dressed, witty, and just plain awesome. In fact, I think I might be in love with him....

I was super happy 30 Rock won Best Comedy and Mad Men won Best Drama. I was less happy with the winners of Best Actress in a Comedy and Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy: Toni Collette from The United States of Tara and Jon Cryer for Two and a Half Men??? Really? Um, Amy Poehler anyone? Kristin Wiig anyone? Or what about Jermaine from Flight of the Conchords? Really? Jon Cryer?!? NEIL PATRICK HARRIS was in the running for crying out loud!

Okay, so I'm going to be honest. I wasn't totally blown away by the fashions I saw on the red carpet. A handful of ladies looked sensational (January Jones in Dolce & Gabbana for one), but most looked un-wow-worthy. Some JUST missed-Blake Lively's Versace red dress was sensational on the top, but the slit all the way up the leg was too much. The color of Christina Applegate's Basil Soda dress was gorgeous, but there were just too many details. All in all, I was disappointed with the crop of dresses this year. Luckily, we have the Oscars in just a few months.

Overall, I thought the show was entertaining and well-produced. Usually these shows seem never-ending and uninspired but this was unique and had a few fun extra touches (Love the four split-screens as the show went in and out of commercials.) I give the show an A.

Baby Boom

Okay, onto the next topic-It's baby time! This was another big week of births in Hollywood. First, Freddie and Sarah Michelle Prinze (she officially changed her name from Gellar to Prinze recently) gave birth to a little girl named Charlotte Grace Prinze last Saturday. How cute is that baby? Can't wait to see if she follows her parent's footsteps and becomes an actor too!

Grey's Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo and her husband Chris Ivery announced the birth of their daughter Stella Luna Pompeo Ivery earlier this week. This comes not too long after her Grey's cast mate Katherine Heigl adopted a little girl from Korea. Hope their set has daycare!

And our favorite British bad boy Jude Law welcomed a daughter this week. His one-time fling Samantha Burke gave birth to Sophia on Tuesday. While the actor and aspiring actress are not together anymore, they are both ecstatic about their newborn. I wish them the best of luck!

Baby Charlie made three for Early Show co-host Julie Chen and CBS head honcho Leslie Moonves. The little one was born Thursday morning in Los Angeles. Mother and baby are doing well.

- Mackenzie Phillips stunned the Hollywood world when she revealed shocking details about her life, primarily around her relationship with her father. The actress, whose autobiography is being released soon, appeared on Oprah and The Today Show to discuss what she wrote. Those videos are worth a watch.
- Reality star Khloe Kardashian and L.A. Lakers player Lama Odom are moving forward with their wedding plans-this Sunday! These two lovebirds met only one month ago, yet each claim they've found their perfect match. I'm a romantic at heart so I'm excited for the two of them! I wonder where my invite is? (This joke just isn't getting old to me...)
- Former Britney Spears hubby Kevin Federline announced this week that he'd be joining the weight-loss reality show, Celebrity Fit Club. So. Many. Jokes. Don't. Know. Which. To. Choose.

Heather Locklear out and about in Hollywood

- Short skirt alert! Heather Locklear is returning to Melrose Place! Heck yeah! I just went from not interested in that show to 100% not missing any episode featuring the infamous Amanda Woodward. LOVE that she is coming back!
- The latest American Girl doll is homeless. Am I on candid camera or is this for real?
- Okay fine, I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want... another Spice Girls reunion. And it sounds like I might just get my wish! Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) kicked the rumor mill into gear when she mentioned on a British talk show the group is in talks about a possible reunion. I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed for this one (and no, I'm not embarrassed.)
- Here comes the bride! Zooey Deschanel married Death Cab for Cutie band member Ben Gibbard last weekend in Seattle, Washington. How adorable is this pair? Can't WAIT to see pics of her wedding gown. I bet it was super unique and cool. I'm a big fan of Zooey.
