Hot Bangs: Perfect Winter Hair
Big bang theory.
It’s so tempting when you lookat perfectly coiffed bangs like these to want them on your forehead. Maybe it’s the urge to cover up from the cold, or change our look, but this time of year we definitely have a big bang craving.
Alas, this hairstyle is not for everyone. And the wrong cut, the wrong face shape, or the wrong type of hair can really make for a bad bang look. So before you go and give your hair a whack for the annual holiday card, read this!
Your hair: Your hair type determines your bang type. No doubt about it, naturally straight, sleek hair is prime for bang-age. Doesn’t sound like your hair? Don’t fret, bangs can still be an option. Just look for a hair muse that mirrors your natural texture. You’ll be glad you did.
Your face: Do some objective observing and identify the shape of your face.
Rectangular face shapes: You can handle heavy bangs. Long faces become more balanced and proportionate with the addition of a strong bang.
Square face shapes: Bangs with height and movement are best for you. Steer clear of short or blunt styles.
Oval face shapes: If you must have bangs, go for the light, wispy variety. Side bangs are an oval’s best friend.
Your bang: Your bangs are YOUR bangs, so set expectations accordingly. No matter how great Mischa Barton’s bangs look on her, they won’t look the same on you. So cut ’em and own ’em.
