How Much Will You Spend on Beauty?
UK poll shows we're big spenders
Are you a big beauty fan? Crave a makeup "fix" on a weekly basis? You might be surprised at the poll results in a UK questionnaire, in which it was determined that women will spend, on average, $13,000 on beauty stuff in a lifetime. Do you think you'll do the same?
The study also broke down purchases by product. From the ages 16 to 65, they concluded, a woman will spend about $1,635 on lipstick, $3,480 on mascara, and $2,536 on eye shadow! In addition, in the five times a woman shops every year, she will spend about $36 on different products, the poll indicated.
I wonder whether we'd have the same results if the poll were done in the United States and Canada? I have a feeling that we might spend more than $200 on makeup a year, but I'm not positive. Since natural beauty solutions are part of my repertoire, I spend less, but a quick browse in the drugstore can really add up. Considering how brand-loyal we are in North America when it comes to makeup, perhaps that could amount to a higher average.
One other question I had about the survey was the actual customer purchasing power when it comes to cosmetics. Is makeup generally cheaper or more expensive in the United Kingdom? I'm curious whether or not those polled makeup lovers are getting more bang for their buck, which will in turn lower their purchase totals? So many questions!
