Careful! Don't go overboard!
.

You can still sparkle!

Just because the holidays are over, it doesn't mean you have to avoid a little sparkle and shine.

But hold on. Don't get all crazy. You still need to show a bit of restraint when bejeweling yourself. Here's our lowdown on sparkle done right.

Sequins
When wearing the festive discs make sure they are all the same color and preferably a muted color like beige, black, or gray. Also, be sure to keep the rest of your look low-key: that means no crazy lace stockings, Art Deco bangles, or gold shimmer eye shadow. Keep it simple, people.

Velvet
Usually we associate velvet with musty apartments and old people. We're not really sure why. But recently we've been reconsidering, because nothing is as festive as a black velvet blazer!

Metallic
Metallic was so last year. With that said, it's still ok to incorporate some shimmer into your wardrobe in the form of an accessory like a cute flat or clutch.
