Hugh Jackman's Wolverine Claws Up the Box Office
Don't mess with the beast.
In one of the first blockbuster openings of the summer, Hugh Jackman's X-Men Origins: Wolverine dominated the box office, grossing $87 million in the US and $170 million worlwide.
The film, which also stars Taylor Kitsch, Liev Schreiber, and Ryan Reynolds, was not as successful as last year's Iron Man, which made $200 million in its first weekend, but the studios are calling it a definite success.
After all, onsidering Wolverine had a budget of $140 million, that's not a bad profit for just three days.
And the number is only expected to grow from there, as folks who waited for the opening rush to subside finally have their chance. But Jackman's metal mutant will have to get what it can, while it can, because next week it faces a formidable opponent - J.J. Abram's Star Trek opens this Friday.
