Is Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart Romance A Publicity Stunt?
New report: Pattinson/Stewart love is all staged.
We really didn't see this coming: a new report is asserting that the are-they-or-aren't-they romance that we've all been speculating about for more than a year is nothing but a farce. Are Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart faking their romance for Twilight press?
Our pals at PopEater are introducing a new and very interesting theory: could Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart both acting so jerky about all the media coverage because they're bogged down faking a relationship so that Twilight will continue cashing in? The first two films in The Twilight Saga have raked in over $1 billion (that's a billion!), and much of the draw to the films is the mysterious but tangible chemistry between Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.
Would we care about the next few films if we didn't think there were some possibility that Pattinson and Stewart felt the same way in real life as they do on the screen? PopEater muses, "If Twilight fans are trusting enough to let a vampire nuzzle their necks, they're hardly going to suspect a studio of being so cynical as to fake a relationship between its stars in order to sell movie tickets."
PopEater also points out that fake romances sell TV all the time: "Fake relationships have become such a common marketing tool in film and television that we even dubbed it "the Aniston effect" earlier this year when three different Dancing With The Stars couples tried to get us to believe that their chemistry was off-screen as well as on. And if Rob and Kristen really are just following the studio's orders to generate heat for their films, at least it would explain why they're so sour all the time.".
PopEater has more -- and it's a theory worth considering. Flip through our great photos from the Eclipse premiere in L.A., then leave a comment: are the Twilight Two a real deal or box office bait? Plus, there's word that Robert Pattinson not only hates Internet journalists (grrr!) but that he's also -- wow -- burnt out with Twilight. Get the story here.
