Jane Lynch Calls Cory Monteith Glee Episode "Most Beautiful Thing"
Ryan Murphy Says There Will Be No Drug Overdose
Jane Lynch has had a first look at how the upcoming fifth season of Glee will address the untimely passing of star Cory Monteith, and she says it's the "most beautiful thing."
Questions have swirled about how the hit show will portray Finn Hudson's departure ever since Monteith (who played Hudson) passed away in July, and now we're getting the first impressions of his castmate, Jane Lynch.
"Just read Cory Monteith memorial episode," she wrote on Twitter. "Most beautiful thing. Thank you, @MrRPMurphy @BFalchuk Ian Brennan."
Monteith died of a drug overdose on July 13, prompting many Glee fans to believe the show may actually have Finn succumb to the same tragedy. But Glee creator Ryan Murphy nixed that idea.
"There were a lot of things that we had to decide [for the memorial episode]," the director explained to Deadline.com. "At one point, we were going to have his character die after an accidental drug overdose -- that was something we had considered. But we have decided that we're not going to have him pass from that."
So what exactly are his plans for Monteith's tribute? All we know is that it will air during the season's third episode ... and it will be heartbreaking.
"There's been tears on set. It's been hard for a lot of people. But the really difficult thing is coming. I think it turned out to be a lovely tribute, and it's a very heartfelt look at how young people grieve," Murphy said.
Look for the season premiere of "Glee" on September 26 at 9pm on FOX.
