Jason Bateman Almost Ruined His Life Partying
This Funny Guy Wasn't Always On Top
Why is it that comedians seem to have these charmed lives--and then we find out how wrong we were? Jason Bateman revealed that substance abuse almost tore apart his marriage to Details magazine, and that a decade of his life was Risky Business-esque.
With his wife Amanda Anka urging him to change his ways, Jason Bateman kicked off his recovery with a visit to Alcoholics Anonymous in 2001.
Bateman told the mag that "Booze was what would make me want to stay out all night and do some blow or smoke a joint or whatever, so shutting that off was key. It's like ketchup and fries, I don't want one without the other." (They don't call them gateway drugs for nothing.)
With his "journey into adulthood," Bateman is prepped to sling out the films, including The Invention of Lying, Up in the Air, and Couples Retreat. He was also in New York earlier this year filming The Baster alongside Jennifer Aniston.
We like this side of Jason Bateman--may it continue!
