Javier Bardem Not a Bad Boyfriend

Just has a bad back.

We're pretty big fans of Javier Bardem over here. Someone, who shall remain nameless (*cough* Christina *cough*), even has a picture of the Spanish heartthrob as her desktop background. So you can imagine we were a little disappointed not to see Javi at the Oscars. And we imagined his GF, Penelope Cruz, was also disappointed her main man wasn't there to see her take home her Academy Award. So what was Javier's excuse for missing the big night?

Well, rest assured fellow Bardemites, there was a good reason for the no-show. Javier was not blowing off Penelope, or his fans, or the Academy. In fact, he wasn't doing much of anything. Poor Javi suffered a herniated disc while shooting his upcoming movie, Biutiful, and was put on bed rest on February 12.

The actor returned to work last week and is said to be doing much better.

Now that we know Javier really is the gallant, hardworking, sensual creature we always believed him to be, and not some schmuck who bails on his beautiful girlfriend on the biggest night of her career, we feel much better. And we're sure with Penelope's TLC, he'll be feeling much better too.
