Jay Leno Puts Together His Own Stimulus Package
Some relief for Michigan.
I can't say I'm the biggest fan of Jay Leno's brand of grandma humor, but by all accounts the guy is philanthropis maximus (i.e. he's quite charitable). Word around talk show town is that Jay Leno will once again pull out his giving bone to lend a hand - and some laughs - to those impacted by These Economic Times.
Leno is set to perform in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Michigan, as you may well know, has really been hit hard by the economic downturn. The unemployment rate in Michigan - home of the failing automotive industry - is one of the highest in the nation (reported at 11.6% in January 2009).
With that in mind, Jay is offering the residents of Auburn Hills (just outside Detroit) a little gift. The only way to secure a ticket to Jay's Comedy Stimulus Plan show is to be unemployed.
That's right. If you've been laid off, you'll be let in. In addition to free tickets, Jay will also offer free parking and beverages.
Good stuff, Jay. Good stuff.
