Jerry O'Connell Cast as Herman Munster in 'The Munsters' Reboot
Jerry O'Connell to Star as Herman Munster in 'Mockingbird Lane'
When you think of Herman Munster, does Jerry O'Connell come to mind?
Probably not, but O'Connell has been cast in the revamped Munsters TV series called Mockingbird Lane.
Of course, separating the iconic Fred Gwynne as the original Herman Munster from this project is a tough sell to being with, but fresh-faced goofball O'Connell doesn't readily come to mind as a perfect fit either.

First, he seems too young for the role and too handsome -- but then again there is always makeup to make the dashing O'Connell Frankenstein-ish.
I won't pass judgement on Mockingbird Lane or the decision to cast O'Connell until I give it a look. With Bryan Fuller helming the Munsters reboot and Eddie Izzard cast as Grandpa, let's just say they've got my attention enough to give the series a chance.
Writer-producer Fuller recently told EW.com, "We want this show to be an American Harry Potter. To have that sense of a magical world that you get to go to with your family and find stories told in a fantastical way that are instantly relatable. It's an American Horror Story that the whole family can watch."
