'Jersey Shore' Canceled, Last Season Airing This Fall
MTV Cancels 'The Jersey Shore'
It's the end of an era -- MTV has canceled The Jersey Shore.
Has viewer interest in the tacky Jersey Shore cast faded?
That seems to be the case, as MTV decided to cancel the once popular reality series that launched the likes of Snooki, JWoww and The Situation to celebrity superstar status.

Looks like the cast will have to do their GTL (gym-tan-laundry) without the constant MTV cameras chronicling their every move now.
Jersey Shore's sixth season wrapped production recently, so fans of the series still have another season to watch, thankfully.
You know, closure and all.
There will also be a special retrospective episode called Gym, Tan, Look Back airing before the MTV Video Music Awards on September 6.
The last season of Jersey Shore will premiere on October 4 for a final run in Seaside Heights.

Maybe the show had run its course about ten times over, but fans still tuned in to see what kind of drunken hijinks the gang was up to.
It was the visit overseas to Italy that started to show a slump in viewer numbers, and this year, ratings slipped even lower.

Let's raise a glass and give a final fist pump to bid a fond farewell to the pop culture insanity that was the Jersey Shore, the most popular program in MTV's history, if you can believe it.
It's not the last you've seen of these guys, with the Snooki & JWOWW spin-off set for a second season, plus buzz about The Pauly D Project.
