Jimmy Kimmel Celebrates His 2nd Annual 'National Unfriend Day' With Peanuts Characters [VIDEO]
. . . With It's National Unfriend Day Charlie Brown
Jimmy Kimmel is the Patron Saint of National Unfriend Day, which coincidentally, takes place tomorrow (Nov 17). Never heard of it? That's because Kimmel only originated it last year.
National Unfriend Day is a holiday dedicated to giving Facebook users the opportunity to "unfriend" people without any guilt. The now-annual event was created by Kimmel to weed out people on Facebook -- users you wouldn't usually have contact with in your day to day lives -- reserving the connection only for true friends.

Kind of makes sense right? I mean, if you're one of those people with a 1000 Facebook friends, can you honestly say that you're true friends with them all? Or are some of these "friends" just people you met once at a Starbucks line-up, with whom you shared a brief interaction over your mutual love for the Venti, sugar-free, non-fat, vanilla soy, double shot, decaf, no foam, extra hot, Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha with light whip and extra syrup (you can genuinely order that).
National Unfriend Day isn't such a bad idea, but for it to be recognized as an "official" holiday, as Kimmel explained on Jimmy Kimmel Live, it needed a Peanuts cartoon. Just like Halloween had the It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown sketch, to mark his special holiday, Kimmel went ahead and conjured It's National Unfriend Day Charlie Brown.
