Joe Simpson Arrested for DUI

Joe Simpson was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) on Saturday.

Simpson is dad to Jessica and Ashlee Simpson and has acted as their manager, shaping their careers over the years.

TMZ reports that Simpson, 54, was pulled over on August 4 at 10 p.m. and arrested after officers suspected he was intoxicated.

He spent the night in jail and was released the next morning.

According to TMZ, since this is Simpson's first offense, he will likely just have to pay a fine.

At least he wasn't naked like Randy Travis, who was charged with DWI earlier this week.

Jessica, meanwhile, is enjoying her new role as mom to baby Maxwell Drew, skipping out on drinking alcohol, as she tweeted, ''Responsibility has drastically changed my life! Saturday night drink of choice ... WATER! :)"

Of course, she's busy dieting for Weight Watchers, sharing these inspirational words about the struggle to lose weight: "What we put in our bodies mirrors our Self-Worth #INSPIRED."
