John Mayer's One Week Digital Cleanse
John abandons Twitter for a week
Remember when Miley Cyrus quit Twitter? And John Mayer said he understood why she did it, but that he would never feel the need to do it? Well, now he's taking a one-week digital cleanse, which means no Twitter. All I can say is that he better be back right when this cleanse is over!
It's been about 5 full days now and we're all expecting John Mayer to make his return to Twitter (and the Internet in general) on Friday morning. And we're praying he returns! Oh, and if you're one of the lucky people John Mayer text messages on a regular basis, you should start getting texts from him again on Friday as well.
John Mayer started his digital cleanse on the first day of the New Year and urged everyone to try it with him. You know, we totally would have, except one of the guidelines stated, "no visiting of any entertainment or gossip sites" and we just couldn't get down with that. The other guidelines said that you could only send emails from a computer (and not from a phone), you can only use a cell phone to make calls (no texting), and no use of Twitter or social networking sites.
When John returns from his cleanse he'll share with everyone what he learned and how hard it was or wasn't. Do you think a digital cleanse is necessary? I've always been of the mind that technology and social media can be balanced into life and can be used in positive ways. More important than stopping cold turkey is learning how to incorporate it into your life in a healthy manner.
I just hope John Mayer will be back before long and I can't wait to hear what he has to say!
