John Travolta: Faith Got Me Through My Son's Death
Travolta family "working very hard" to heal after Jett's passing.
It's a year since 16-year-old Jett Travolta passed away after complications with a seizure, and the Travoltas (John, wife Kelly Preston and daughter Ella) are a family the public hates to see hurting. For the first time, John Travolta is opening up about how he has coped: turns out the church of Scientology is helping to get him through.
"We work hard every day with our church on healing. And Kelly and I and Ella have all been working very hard and they've been helping us."
Travolta added that he felt it was important to break through the intitial loss before he could articulate what he needed: "Once you get yourself stable, then you're able to reach out again, you know, and I think this whole year every day we've been working on stabilizing ourselves and it's been successful so far."
While Travolta did mention his faith as being helpful to getting through the loss of Jett, he was careful not to mention the name of his faith organization. We all know it's the church of Scientology, and he's come under a lot of fire this week for taking Scientology ministers down to Haiti in the wake of the Haiti earthquake disaster. Get that story here.
Meanwhile there were rumors just a few months ago that John Travolta was going to leave Scientology. Go here for the background.
