John Travolta's Former Pilot Tells 'Enquirer' He Was Star's Lover for Six Years

Doug Gotterba Also Says Travolta Wanted to Make a Sex Tape and Liked to Have Orgies

The National Enquirer is touting "the biggest John Travolta story of all time" in its new issue, with a headline that blares "Travolta's gay lover exposes sex tape shocker!" and a story that details Travolta's former pilot's tales of an alleged six-year-long affair with the actor.

The story, which is on newsstands today, revolves around former Travolta pilot Doug Gotterba, who says he had an ongoing love affair with Travolta, and can even reveal the exact date the affair began -- Sept. 2, 1981.

"I know the date because I still have the log books and records," Gotterba, 62, told The Enquirer.

Gotterba, whose claims in the article also include that Travolta liked multiple sexual partners at the same time and that the actor wanted to make a sex tape, has shared photos of his time with Travolta with The Enquirer.

And he says the star told him that, even after his 1991 marriage to actress Kelly Preston, that he preferred the sexual company of men.

"(Travolta and Preston had) just gotten back from the Church of Scientology's Celebrity Center in Hollywood when I arrived and John asked me to go with him for a walk on the beach," Gotterba tells The Enquirer.

"We were making small talk when suddenly, I blurted out, 'So, John, tell me. Now that you're married, do you still prefer men -- or women?' He looked me straight in the eye and said, 'Well, Doug, I still prefer men!' I said, 'Okay.' And that's the last time we saw each other."

Of the night his affair with Travolta began, Gotterba goes into detail for The Enquirer article (courtesy of the New York Post):

"We flew into Monterey, Calif., and went up to the Highlands resort in Carmel," Gotterba says. “We had a wonderful dinner with a fantastic bottle of merlot, and I got the sense I was being courted. As we walked from the restaurant back to the room, John suddenly said, 'Hey, would you like a massage?'

"I'd already prepared myself for something like that, so I said, 'Sure, why not?' I went back to his room, showered and came out wearing only a towel. John said, 'Okay, (lie) down here on the bed.' He gave me a massage -- and it turned into something else!

"John was gentle, but very passionate. The next day, he told me with a big smile on his face, 'I really enjoyed last night.' And I told him, 'So did I!'"
