Johnny Depp didn't die (thankfully) ... he's just the latest victim of a celebrity death hoax.

Internet rumors started flying about Depp's death when a crew member died during production of his film The Lone Ranger.

Last month, 48-year-old Mike Bridger died of an apparent heart attack while cleaning a pool tank on the movie set in Los Angeles.

For some reason, that tragic death caused some confusion and news that Depp had passed away started to spread.

Depp luckily doesn't suffer quite so many death hoaxes as other celebrities, but he was on the receiving end of a fake death in 2010 when a bogus CNN website reported he died in a car accident in France.
