Johnny Depp Gets $35 Million for New 'Pirates' Sequel
Ahoy, Money!
With his new paycheck for Pirates of the Caribbean 4, Johnny Depp has shot to the top of the list of highest paid actors in Hollywood. Depp has reportedly signed on to fill Captain Jack's boots again for a whopping $35 million.
The Pirates franchise has been one of the most successful film ventures in recent history, grossing almost $3 billion since the first movie came out in the summer of 2003. And as Hollywood's enigmatic darling, Johnny Depp is a big reason for its success.
Perhaps that's why studio execs agreed to give Depp such a big paycheck for the upcoming fourth installment, titled Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. It also may have to do with the fact that neither Orlando Bloom or Keira Knightley will be coming back, so there's probably a lot more money to go around.
As for the other characters, Geoffrey Rush is expected to reprise his role as Captain Barbossa, and there are rumors that Spanish bombshell Penelope Cruz is set for the female lead.
