There's a new chapter in the explosive episode in which Kate Gosselin has accused her estranged husband Jon of withdrawing over $230,000 from their joint bank account. Kate Gosselin appeared on the Today show Monday morning near tears, saying that she and the kids didn't have enough money thanks to Jon's irresponsibility and spitefulness.

Kate says Jon took nearly all of the $231,000 they had in their account. “I have a stack of bills. The last thing I wanted was to do this show and end up not being able to pay our bills," Kate told Meredith Vieira on Today. Apparently Jon didn't touch a separate account that had been designated for the kids.

The stipulations for the money were that neither Jon nor Kate could take out cash without the other's consent. Kate said she took out $100,000 before she filed for the divorce so she could feed the kids. She and Jon split those funds to $50,000 each, and Kate says she paid bills and then put the rest of the money back. Meanwhile, she says, Jon squandered his half.

Late yesterday Kate filed papers with the state of Pennsylvania requesting that Jon be cited for taking the $230,000, which would have been a violation of a court order drawn up as part of the divorce proceedings.

Meanwhile Jon insists that he never could have taken the money. He calls the accusations "a total fabrication" and says that last Thursday, he took out $22,000 and no more. "I've never taken any money out because over ten years, Kate handled all the banking," Us Magazine has quoted Jon as saying. He also claimed that Kate is hiding the rest of the money -- People has quoted him with the following:

"She's hiding money," [Jon Gosselin] said. "We have 11 bank accounts. That was just our joint account. She had a best-selling book. Where's that million dollars? I believe she's incriminating herself and not thinking clearly. She's wanting me to look bad. I didn't want these things to come public. I didn't want this to be embarrassing for her."
