Joss Stone's Pro-Pot Commentary
Joss Ruffles Feathers With Candid Comments
Joss Stone needs to retake "Celeb 101." The singer recently made anti-drug campaigners crazy when she talked about her marijuana use, as well as her occasional dabble in club drugs. Joss has mentioned pot use in the past, but never so... in-depth. What a way to promote one's new album!
Britain's Star magazine got the full run-down as Joss described her light but regular drug use.
"I smoke weed, but I don't think it's really a drug. It's more of a herb. [...] I think everyone smokes weed and people who say they don't are lying! Weed has been given this evil stamp, but how is it dangerous? It's going to make you laugh your a**e off? You might go to sleep? I think alcohol is much more harmful."
I'm sure many people will be offended by Joss's comment that "everyone smokes weed"--it's more like "everyone you don't expect"! Joss said that she doesn't smoke every day, and it depends on the kind of work she has to do during the day--and whether "it's a smoking studio or not."
Things with Star mag started to go really pear-shaped when Joss said that she tries other drugs when she's out clubbing because "some sound fun."
In response to her comments, David Raynes, head of the UK's National Drugs Prevention Alliance, said "She should consider the effects that her comments have on other people, especially young fans who look up to her. People like Joss Stone should keep their mouths shut about things like this."
What's your take on the Joss controversy? Should she zip it, or does she have a right to discuss her personal feelings on an issue as she pleases?
