Julia Roberts in India for Eat, Pray, Love
Indian newspapers confirmed early Friday morning that Julia Roberts has touched down in Delhi, India to enact Elizabeth Gilbert's pursuit of spirituality in the upcoming film Eat, Pray, Love.
In late August Julia was seen eating her way through Rome (or pretending to) in her lead role as love-defeated Gilbert, an author whose 2006 bestselling memoir shared her triumph over divorce by spending a year traveling Italy, India, and Indonesia. The memoir sold a reported 7.5 million copies worldwide and was translated into 30 languages.
Last January Roberts toured India (including the Taj Mahal) as part of research for the role. Now onto the official filming, Roberts will study yoga and meditation under Indian gurus in an ashram in suburban Pataudi (which is not the same ashram in which Gilbert practiced).
Filming is scheduled to begin September 20 for Eat, Pray, Love's release in 2011.
