Music's royalty was out in force last night at Los Angeles' Nokia Theater for the 40th Annual American Music Awards.

The 40th Anniversary show boasted performances from some of the music world's elite including Taylor Swift, No Doubt, Usher, Christina Aguilera, Linkin Park and Carrie Underwood.

In addition, there were elaborate tributes to both Michael Jackson and Whiteny Houston and Stevie Wonder performed a touching goodbye to Dick Clark who founded the award show back in 1972.
