Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus: The New 'Dirty Dancing' Stars?
Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake and Lea Michele Among the Names Rumored as Potential Dirty Dancing Remake Stars
No one puts Miley Cyrus in a corner?!?!
That would be the case if one of the many Dirty Dancing remake casting rumors proves to be true.
CelebDirtyLaundry.com reports that Cyrus is among the lineup of celebs who've been mentioned as potential stars of the recently-announced Dirty Dancing remake. Cyrus, presumably, would play the role originated by Jennifer Grey -- naïve teen Baby Houseman -- while Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake, Rob Pattinson, Derek Hough and Zac Efron have been mentioned as potential Johnny Castles, the role made famous by Patrick Swayze in the 1987 original.

Of course, dose of reality time, as with the upcoming Footloose remake, producers of the Dirty Dancing do-over, which will be directed by original Dancing movie choreographer Kenny Ortega, could decide to go with unknowns for the remakes leads.
Besides, The Biebs is probably too busy, Cyrus, Pattinson and Timberlake are trying to forge more serious acting careers and Zac Efron was originally attached to the Footloose makeover and dropped out, so it's unlikely he'd sign on for Dirty Dancing.
Dancing With the Stars' Derek Hough … him, they could probably get. Ditto other rumored female lead candidates, Emma Roberts and Glee's Lea Michele.
Meanwhile, though news of the Dirty Dancing remake has brought mixed reactions, at best, from fans of the beloved original, both Grey, who put on her dancing shoes again to become the season 11 DWTS champ, and Lisa Niemi, the widow of Patrick Swayze, are excited about seeing Dirty Dancing hit the big screen again.

Grey first expressed her approval of the remake via Twitter, then released a statement saying, "I’m so excited about this news, and I think there’s nobody better to do this than my beloved Kenny Ortega, who is as responsible as anyone for the success of the first one. I can’t wait to see what he’s going to do with it."
And Ortega told Us Weekly Niemi has given her support to the remake, also. "Jennifer (Grey) and I have been talking and she’s been so supportive, as has Lisa Swayze and (producer) Eleanor Bernstein."
