Justin Timberlake: 'Baywatch' Movie Babe? [SLIDESHOW]

Will the Singer-Turned-Big-Screen Star Don the Red Trunks for the Baywatch Film?

Justin Timberlake, red swim trunks, frolicking down a beach? OK, we're in, that is if the Twitch.com casting rumors are true, and the pop star-turned-actor really does plan to take on a role in the upcoming big-screen movie version of Baywatch.

Paramount and producers Ivan Reitman, Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson are behind the movie remake, and have reportedly approached Timberlake about being the movie's male lead. He would play a disgraced Olympic swimmer who tries to redeem himself by winning a spot on the lifeguard crew.

Original TV series stars David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson have also been offered roles in the movie.

As for why Timberlake, who has had roles in dramas like The Social Network, Alpha Dog and Southland Tales (and will co-star with Clint Eastwood in the upcoming baseball-themed drama Trouble with the Curve),  would take on the role in the boob tube-to-big screen redo, the Baywatch flick is being written as a comedy.

Thanks to his classic performances on Saturday Night Live, Timberlake has definitely proven he has serious comedy skills.

Besides, though his acting career still holds promise, he's also starred in some clunkers … The Love Guru and Yogi Bear, to name a couple. The starring role in a potentially funny big-screen comedy could set him on the path to becoming a go-to romantic comedy star.
