Limited edition sneakers officially go on sale today for a retail price of $245

We all know about the bragging rights that are associated with sporting some decent swag, but would having sneakers designed by Kanye West be a part of this elite category of apparel? If they cost you more than $90,000, they'd better be!

Nike's Air Yeezy 2, the result of a collaboration between the hip hop superstar and the notorious shoe manufacturer, is set to be released to the public in extremely limited quantities (just about 5,000 will be available), which has resulted shoe collectors (yes, you can find a collector for just about anything that's ever existed in the planet Earth) and fans of the self-professed "End-all, be-all of music" scrambling to nab a pair of the much sought-after shoes.

Although the footwear will officially be available today, a number of pre-ordered pairs of the shoes were available for purchase via online e-commerce website, eBay. The difference between a bidding war and a retail store with a set price can sometimes be astounding ... Such is the case with West's latest shoe design.

On the auction site, a pre-order for a pair of the sneakers fetched a respectable sum ... $90,300. For a pair of shoes. For a pair of shoes that were designed by the man that sang Gold Digger with Jamie Foxx. Thankfully that huge chunk of change isn't what Nike or West are commanding at retail stores, as they are normally priced at $245, a relative steal in comparison.

The starting bid was just $0.99, but once bidders started raising the price and emotions likely got in the way of clear judgement, the shoes eventually escalated to the price of $90,300 by the time that the auction was over on June 6. The winner, only identified as a***1, placed his bid during the last minute of the bidding war, according to Mashable Entertainment. Will this be a story that the winner will to possible future grandchildren? Only time will tell.

The original Air Yeesy line was designed by West and released in 2009, and according to the rapper's Twitter account, work is under way (as of December) for constructing the Air Yeesy 3.

Yeah well, the trick is actually getting the winner to pay. $10 says they don't. Anyway, as far as buying/saving on eBay goes: If you see an item that you want listed in auction format, send the seller a message asking if they will accept $x to end the auction early and sell the item to you. If that doesn???t work, use a sniping service such as Bidball. com to bid for you. It???ll bid in the last few seconds, helping to save $ and avoid shill bidding. If there is a particular item that you want that is relatively rare on eBay or goes fast when one is listed, use ebuyersedge. com to set up a saved eBay search for it. You???d get an e-mail whenever a match is listed. You can use the price, category, exclude word, etc. filters to narrow down the results that you get in the e-mails. Excellent for ???Buy It Now???s priced right. If the item that you???re looking for is difficult to spell, try a misspelling search site like Typojoe. com to find some deals with items that have main keywords misspelled in the title. Other interested buyers may never see them.
