Kara DioGuardi Talks About Her Eating Disorder
Kara DioGuardi Discusses Diet with Women's Health
We love American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi here at LimeLife: she's cool, she's real, and she always gives a great interview. She recently sat down with Women's Health to talk about health and fitness, and we're surprised at what she had to say about her loved ones and their "advice."
Why were we surprised? Well, it's common knowledge that Kara suffered from an eating disorder, which she also mentioned in her interview, and she's always trying to improve her eating habits and exercise sensibly. But her loved ones? They're still "honest" with her about her shape and fitness level, telling her when she looks bad. Anyone think that's a little off the mark?
"Someone [close to me] said, ‘You may want to work on your arms - they're a little jiggly'...The people in my life have no qualms about telling me when I don't look great," she said.
Yes, tell the person with body issues to work out more! We hope it was her trainer. The rest of her interview was more balanced, though:
On exercise:
"Two miles of running or 25 minutes of cardio - boxing, treadmill, step-ups, walking lunges, sprints. I mix it up. And weight training is important as you get older. You build muscle which burns fat when you're at rest."
On water:
"Two huge bottles a day, minimum. I have them around - one upstairs, one in the car - to force me to remember."
On her first job in music:
"I started to feel better about my life. I was answering phones and getting water but I also learned about the music business."
On being happy:
"For the first time in my life, I'm content. I don't feel the need to prove myself anymore."
Are you surprised about Kara DioGuardi's interview? While the arm wobble part disturbed me, I liked that she keeps her workouts simple and focused. A little bit every day, and you're golden!
