Kate Gosselin Interview Didn't Help Ratings
Critics: NBC put rep on the line with Kate Gosselin-Natalie Morales.
What's worse than airing your dirty laundry and crying in front of the whole country? Doing it with nobody watching.
Unfortunately Kate Gosselin knows what we mean. Her interview with the Today show's Natalie Morales that aired Monday night on TLC is said to have attracted less than four million viewers, an anti-climactic number since Jon & Kate Plus 8 has plummeted from last season's peak of 10 million.
TLC is pulling all the stops where their number-one show is concerned, and they hired NBC to produce the Kate Gosselin interview in order to yank up the covers on the merciless Gosselin tabloid coverage with NBC's credibility. Kate's tearful, revealing conversation with Natalie Morales was an attempt to compensate for some of the sad ratings the Gosselins have seen in the last two months, especially since Jon Gosselin pulled the plug on taping.
It's said Kate Gosselin knows that the franchise is suffering terribly and that she continues to brainstorm with TLC execs to keep the show on the air. Meantime the producers are pulling together "clip-job" footage of the Gosselin family together to air through the end of November...but now that they're holding Jon Gosselin to a nasty court case, we may see the cameras fire back up soon.
