Kate Walsh, Eric Dane Crossover to 'Private Practice'

They could call it Private Anatomy.

Grey's Anatomy may have given birth to Private Practice, but that doesn't mean the two can't hang out once in awhile. ABC has confirmed that producers of the two shows are planning an epic crossover event, with hot and lusty character-swapping.

Fans of both shows will be happy to hear that true love can't be confined by different time slots. Old lovers Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh) and Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) will be appearing on each other's shows sometime early next year.

As the story goes, Dr. Montgomery will head to Seattle to perform a super special surgery on a young woman (Leven Rambin from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), while Dr. Sloan will head down to LA for the requisite check-up.

We're not fortune-tellers or anything, but we're guessing this little road trip up and down the west coast will give the two MDs ample opportunity to dig up issues from their past romance.

So is this whole crossover extravaganza a genuine attempt to further character development, or just a scheme to share fans? I'll scratch my chin until someone gives me an answer.
