Kathy Griffin brings Bristol Palin's ex to LA awards

Comedian Kathy Griffin, 48, showed up at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday night with a surprise date. Griffin brought along Levi Johnston, the ex-fiance of Bristol Palin, eldest daughter of former Alaska governor and US presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

The couple held hands on the red carpet. Johnston said of Griffin: "She’s beautiful and funny. She’s the star of the night." Griffin said: "Miley, try to top this!" Johnston has made several TV appearances, including talk show interviews. He and Bristol had a child during Sarah Palin's controversial run for the second highest office in the land. The couple broke up after their son, Tripp, was born in December 2008.
